The expansion brings the fast-casual brand to a prominent commercial corridor in the Richmond region. The move follows a broader trend of national chains repurposing existing restaurant infrastructure to accelerate growth in the Central Virginia market.

Commercial Redevelopment in Henrico

The project involves the conversion of the former TGI Fridays space to accommodate Cava’s service model. According to Richmond BizSense, this new outpost strengthens the chain's presence in the local dining scene as it continues to target high-traffic areas throughout Henrico.

The site selection highlights ongoing interest in eastern Henrico for commercial development. By moving into a previously established restaurant footprint, the company avoids the timelines associated with ground-up construction while securing a location with existing visibility.

Regional Growth Strategy

Cava’s arrival in eastern Henrico marks another step in the brand's regional footprint. The chain specializes in customizable Mediterranean bowls and pitas, a format that has seen significant growth across the RVA area in recent years.

Local commercial real estate activity remains focused on these types of conversions, where established brands take over vacancies left by older sit-down restaurant models. The specific opening date and construction timeline for the new Henrico location remain subject to local permitting and renovation schedules, according to Richmond BizSense.
