A fallen tree struck a power line in Richmond, igniting a fire and leaving residents without electricity, according to reports from WRIC 8News.

The incident disrupted utility services in RVA as crews worked to address damage caused by the contact between the tree and electrical infrastructure. The resulting fire required attention from emergency responders to ensure the safety of the neighborhood.

Infrastructure Damage and Response

The weight of the tree caused the power line to fail, which initiated the blaze upon contact with the ground or surrounding vegetation. According to WRIC 8News, the outage affected a specific portion of the city, though the utility provider did not immediately release the exact number of impacted customers.

Utility crews arrived on the scene to begin repairs and restore power to the community. Officials have not yet confirmed the specific cause of the tree's fall, such as weather conditions or decay.
