I first saw him perform while working security at one of his shows, and I was completely blindsided—at a loss for words because I couldn’t stop smiling. I was blown away. This man takes the stage with pure confidence (and sometimes, buns out). The beats are infectious, the lyrics cut with seductive precision, and he commands the room effortlessly. Consider me a total fan.
In this episode, we dive into his upbringing, his journey into the arts and music, his love for Richmond, and—of course—our shared appreciation for a glistening Patrick Swayze.
This was such a fun conversation. I thought I was ready for TrapCry, but I was even more stoked to meet the genuine Gene behind it all.
Big thanks to Fuzzy Cactus and crew for providing a safe space to record, and much love to RVA Magazine for always having our back.
Hope everyone’s doing well out there. On my way home from work, I saw an SUV bump into a GRTC bus—so please, stay safe. Oh mylanta." — host, Harrison Christy
