What if your next date in Richmond didn’t revolve around going to the bar? What if it wasn’t about expensive dinners, getting drunk, or swiping through strangers with mutual disinterest?

Lately, we’ve been noticing a shift — and we spoke to The Pair Club about the future of low-pressure, community-based events designed for single people to actually connect in an authentic way.

Think riverside paddling, mocktails at the farm, or just hanging out without the performative awkwardness.

Local Richmond groups are experimenting with this approach — creating experiences where connection is possible, but not forced. No speed rounds. No apps. Just real people, in real places, doing real things.

Could this be the future of dating in Richmond?
