Fifty apps built live with AI. Today I recap every lesson learned and build a Lovable design system to unify them all before the 52 Apps finale.
I'm Will Melton, and this is 52 Apps in 52 Weeks: a public build challenge where I build a real, working application live, every single week, using AI tools like Lovable, Supabase, and Claude. Today marks app number fifty, which means I have two apps left before this challenge officially wraps. This is possibly the final Saturday session of the run, so today's stream is split into two parts.
First, I'm doing a full inventory of everything we've built across fifty weeks. I'll walk through the apps, the wins, the failures, the bugs that took hours to track down, and the patterns that showed up again and again once you've shipped this many AI-built products. Some lessons repeat constantly: plan the full app shell before you touch a single feature, scope every prompt tightly so the AI doesn't wander into files it shouldn't touch, and never let testing start before the build is actually complete. Other lessons only show up at scale, once you've built dozens of apps and started to notice where your own process breaks down. If you've been following along, this is the recap you've been waiting for. If you're new, this is the fastest way to catch up on fifty weeks of building in public.
Second, I'm building something new: a design system inside Lovable. Lovable recently shipped design systems as a feature, and it solves a real problem I have. Across Xponent21, I run a growing portfolio of applications, and not all of them share the same visual language. Buttons look different, spacing is inconsistent, color tokens drift from app to app, and every new build has historically meant re-deciding the same visual questions from scratch. A shared design system means I can define components, colors, typography, and spacing once, then apply that system consistently across every app going forward, instead of manually re-solving design decisions every single week. Watch me set this up live, from first principles, so you can steal the same approach for your own portfolio of apps, whether that's two apps or twenty.
This matters beyond just today's stream. As I look toward the next chapter after 52 Apps wraps, a real design system is the foundation that lets a small team ship a lot of software without every app looking like it came from a different company. If you run an agency, manage a product portfolio, or you're a solo builder juggling multiple AI-built apps, this is the exact workflow to copy.
Whether you're a solo founder, an agency, or just curious what fifty weeks of AI-assisted app development actually looks like, this stream is for you. We talk through real mistakes, real fixes, and real decisions, not polished demos, because that's the only way any of this is actually useful to watch.
