Day 2 of the most ambitious build in the 52 Apps in 52 Weeks challenge. Yesterday we built an entire humanoid robot rental business from nothing in a single session: the brand, the business model, the reservation website, the contracts, and the launch plan. Today we finish the job and push BookTheBot into the world — because the clock is running. We have 30 days to secure 15 founding reservations, and if we hit the threshold, Richmond gets its first rentable humanoid robot.
Here's the premise for anyone just joining: BookTheBot (bookthebot.com) is a crowdfunding-style rental business. Businesses reserve time with a humanoid robot for trade shows, brand activations, grand openings, and events by placing a $100 fully refundable deposit. When 15 founding slots are claimed, we purchase a Unitree G1 EDU humanoid robot and the rentals begin. If we miss the threshold, every deposit is refunded in full. The demand decides whether the robot exists. No investors, no startup capital, no inventory — just an idea, a website, and a deadline.
Today's build list: wiring Stripe to take real deposits, finishing the showbill-style redesign (theater marquee meets machine precision — founding slots as ticket stubs, the counter as a box office), testing the full reservation flow end to end, activating the affiliate program that pays $50 per referred reservation plus 10% of rental value, and pushing the AI-powered ROI calculator live so businesses can see exactly what a robot appearance is worth to them. We're also connecting Claude directly to Lovable through MCP, which means the AI dispatches builds, reads the code, verifies the work, and fixes what the first pass missed — a workflow upgrade you'll want to steal for your own projects.
The stack: Lovable builds the frontend (grab 10 free credits with my referral link at lovable.dev/invite/S8XSI99), Supabase handles the database, auth, and edge functions, Stripe processes deposits, Resend sends transactional email, and Claude powers the business model, the contracts, the ROI calculator, and the build orchestration itself.
Yesterday we also did the homework most people skip: competitive research on the robot rental market (operators in Dallas charge $2,500 a day and stay booked), distributor outreach for the Unitree G1 EDU, a full bank-ready business plan with three financial scenarios, unit economics showing 60%+ contribution margins, and a reservation contract that turns customer demand into the capital that funds the purchase. This is bootstrap entrepreneurship with the receipts shown live.
If you've ever wanted to watch a real business go from idea to taking money in one weekend, this is the stream. Build along, steal the playbook, or just watch and heckle from the chat.
Live every Saturday at 1 PM EST and every Sunday at 10 AM EST at studio.willmelton.com.
