On trauma, punitive systems and what the justice system reveals about us.
In the Season 2 premiere of The Sigma Femme Podcast, trial lawyer and trauma-conscious advocate Charles Inch joins me for a conversation about trauma, judgment and the human realities inside the justice system.
Drawing from nearly two decades in criminal and domestic law, Charlie shares what he has witnessed in courtrooms, jails and high-conflict family cases, including how fear, pressure and prolonged litigation affect the people involved.
We explore masculinity, emotional isolation, nervous-system regulation, custody conflict, forgiveness and the assumptions we make when we judge someone's behavior without understanding the circumstances surrounding it.
What changes when curiosity comes before judgment? And what becomes possible when we recognize our reactions and choose how to respond?
At the heart of this conversation is a question: Before we decide who someone is, can we become curious about what happened to them and what else may be shaping their behavior?
